X has launched React with Video, a new feature that lets users record a video response to any post directly from the repost menu.

X Head of Product Nikita Bier announced React with Video on June 2, 2026, with the feature currently available on iOS. Users can record in one of three formats: green screen, split screen, or picture-in-picture.

Where the Feature Lives

React with Video sits inside the existing repost flow. Tapping the repost button on any post now surfaces React with Video as a third recording option alongside Repost and Quote. The new format does not replace either of the existing options.

Bier described commentary as "one of the most important pillars of X" in the launch announcement, framing the format as a video-native alternative to a quote post. X has not detailed a paid component or creator-monetisation hook attached at the iOS launch.

A Second Swing at Video Replies

X is neither the first short-form platform to ship a video-reply mechanic, nor the first attempt the company has made at one itself. TikTok shipped Stitch and Duet several years ago, Instagram Reels added video replies to comments, and YouTube Shorts has reaction templates. The competitive baseline is well-established.

What is new for X is that the company is trying again on its own surface. In January 2022, then-Twitter rolled out Tweet Takes, a TikTok-style video reply format that did not gain traction. React with Video is effectively a second attempt at the same product bet, this time under Bier's product leadership and built directly into the repost surface where commentary on X already concentrates.

Availability

React with Video is live on iOS at launch. The company has not given a specific date for an Android or web release. TechCrunch reports a rollout to both platforms is expected in the coming weeks.
