X has begun beta testing a Grok integration inside Ads Manager that lets advertisers ask the chatbot for guidance on their ad approach. Social Media Today reported the test after a screenshot of the in-app notification was posted to Threads.

What Grok Does in Ads Manager

Advertisers selected for the beta were notified directly in the app. Inside Ads Manager they can put questions to xAI's Grok about how to approach a campaign. The update also adds tooltips that guide ad creation and suggest ideas for generating ad creative in-stream. X has not published a support page, an eligibility list, or a timeline for wider availability.

Building on the April Platform Rebuild

The integration sits on top of the ad platform X rebuilt earlier this year. In April, the company began a phased rollout of a ground-up rebuild of Ads Manager built on xAI systems, which it described as the biggest ad system update in its history. X said at the time that its systems understand user interests better and can align ad relevance and delivery with real-time trends in the app.

That rebuild replaced the retrieval and ranking layer, which advertisers do not see. The Grok beta is the first part of it they touch directly.

Where the Automation Is Headed

Musk had previously said that his eventual vision is full advertising automation on X through Grok, including ad safety checks and content matching. A chatbot answering questions about campaign strategy sits several steps short of that. It does put the model inside the interface where campaigns are assembled, which is the position it would need to occupy to act on them.

The argument for the approach is data volume. X reports more than 550 million users, giving xAI a large first-party behavioural set to draw interest and persona signals from. X has not published results showing those signals produce better matches than the systems they replaced.

What It Means for Advertisers on X

Conversational assistants are becoming standard equipment in ad buying interfaces. In April, Meta opened its ad accounts to outside AI agents through an MCP server, and TikTok has made its automated GMV Max tool the only route for Shop advertisers. What separates X is the stated destination rather than the feature, since Musk has framed Grok as eventually running campaigns rather than commenting on them.

For advertisers in the beta, the practical value is guidance. Grok is suggesting rather than executing, and X has not said what account data the assistant sees, whether its suggestions are tied to measured performance, or when the beta widens.
