TikTok is shifting its advertising system toward a setup where external AI tools can directly manage campaigns. The company has launched an Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that opens TikTok Ads Manager to third-party AI agents for autonomous campaign management. The announcement was made by Jose Villalobos, TikTok's global head of product marketing for platform and core ads, at TikTok World, the company's sixth annual marketing showcase.

According to information shared at the event, third-party AI agents will be able to connect with its ad system and carry out campaign tasks such as planning, launching, and optimization using the MCP server. The MCP system works like a bridge between TikTok Ads Manager and external AI tools. AI agents will be able to take on parts of that workflow by interacting with TikTok’s system through the protocol instead of advertisers manually working through the dashboard. The MCP server aims to:

“Effectively enable marketers to connect their own AI agents directly to the TikTok ads platform so their AI systems can plan, launch and optimize campaigns without manual intervention.”

This means tasks that usually sit inside media buying teams, such as setting budgets, adjusting bids, or updating targeting, will be handled through connected AI systems.

Villalobos explained that TikTok is not just adding automation inside its own ad tools, but is also opening a pathway for advertisers to plug in their own AI systems and let those systems interact directly with campaign operations.

How the MCP Server Works

The server lets advertisers connect their own AI agents directly to TikTok Ads Manager. Connected agents can plan, launch, and optimize campaigns without manual intervention. Campaign operations including setting bids, shifting budgets, adjusting targeting, and creating ad assets can be delegated entirely to external AI systems.

Developers can also build custom infrastructure for unique advertiser workflows via third-party API agents purpose-built for AI agent interoperability. Third-party optimization integrations are supported at launch, starting with Google Analytics.

What This Signals for TikTok’s Ads Ecosystem

TikTok has been gradually expanding its AI-driven ad tools over the past year, especially in areas like automated campaign optimization and creative generation. Earlier tools such as its AI-powered ad systems already reduced manual control in certain campaign processes, and this MCP rollout pushes that direction further into external systems as well.

Competitive Context

TikTok's MCP server joins similar infrastructure at Meta, Google, and Amazon. Meta, for example, has already introduced Ads AI connectors built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The system lets tools like ChatGPT and Claude connect directly to Meta Ads accounts and perform actions such as creating campaigns, adjusting budgets, and pulling performance data, all through natural language commands inside a chat interface.

Google has also released an open-source Google Ads MCP server alongside its Gemini-powered Ads Advisor. Amazon Ads launched its own MCP server in open beta earlier in 2026. TikTok is the last of the four major platforms to build this infrastructure layer.
