ChatGPT Ads now displays an option that drafts a complete ad for the advertiser, according to Search Engine Land. The option appears under "Add new ad" and reads "generate ads for you." Advertisers can let ChatGPT build an ad from the brand's website and campaign settings, then review, edit, and approve it before it runs on the ChatGPT ad platform.

The reported addition suggests OpenAI is extending AI beyond audience conversations and into the ad creation process itself. Rather than only helping determine where ads appear, the platform now appears to help generate the creative as well. However, OpenAI has not publicly announced the feature or confirmed how it works.

In a screenshot of the interface shared by Anthony Higman on X, the message reads: “We generated an ad variation based on your website and campaign settings. Review, edit as needed, and activate when you’re ready.” Advertisers are then presented with a “Review and create” button before the ad is published.

Another screenshot also shows a new addition inside the advertising interface. Anthony Higman reportedly spotted a quick duplicate ad option. The addition also suggests that OpenAI is expanding the editing tools available inside the ChatGPT Ads interface alongside AI-generated creative.

A New Step Toward Self-Serve Creative

Generative AI has already become part of ad creation across several advertising platforms. Many marketers now use AI to produce headlines, descriptions, images, and multiple creative variations before choosing which version to publish. Meta, Google's Demand Gen tools, LinkedIn's "Draft with AI," and TikTok's Symphony suite already generate ad variants inside their buying platforms.

ChatGPT Ads is a young platform, and automated creative is one of the last major self-serve capabilities it had yet to demonstrate publicly. A built-in draft tool would place ChatGPT Ads on the same path, letting advertisers produce creative without leaving the platform.

The Keyword has tracked the platform moving beyond a single ad format as it widens what advertisers can build, and a drafting option could extend that build-out toward a fuller self-serve system.

Why the Timing Fits

OpenAI has built its ad business in the mold of Meta and Google, adopting self-serve buying, cost-per-click pricing, and a conversion API. The self-serve Ads Manager that opened to U.S. advertisers in May set the foundation, and an automated creative step would remove one more manual task from the workflow.

Faster ad production could also serve OpenAI's own interest, since more submitted ads mean more inventory to fill against ChatGPT's free tier, where the ads appear.
