Google has added home services booking to AI Mode in US Search, with the bookings and quote requests running through the software and marketplaces that home service businesses already use.
Robby Stein, Google's VP of Product for Search, announced it in a post on X on 4 November. He named Angi, Thumbtack, Housecall Pro and Jobber as partners, listed ServiceTitan as coming soon, and said the feature is available now in the U.S.
The launch delivers on a plan Google set out at Google I/O in May. Google said then that agentic booking in Search would expand to local services, with direct links to finish booking through the provider, and that people could ask Google to call businesses in categories such as home repair. In April, Google expanded restaurant booking in AI Mode to the UK, routing reservations through local booking platforms.
How a Business Gets Into AI Mode
A plumber, cleaner or handyman does not sign up with Google for this. The way in is the platform the business already pays for, and each platform sets its own rules.
Jobber's help page on AI Mode lists four requirements. The business needs an active, paid Jobber subscription in the United States, the "Help clients find my business" setting turned on, a complete address in Jobber, and a Google Business Profile connected to Jobber at that same address. Trial accounts cannot appear. Jobber connects the default request form to Google automatically.
Once Google matches the profile, it adds a Book Online button that links to the business's Jobber form, usually within a few days, according to Jobber. Jobber says there are no lead fees for requests from AI Mode, and a business can opt out in its company settings.
Housecall Pro says all of its users are eligible at no additional cost, and that a homeowner's request goes straight to the chosen pro's Housecall Pro inbox with no lead fee or bidding. Its AI Mode partner page says no Google Business Profile is needed and that available time slots come from the pro's calendar.
Housecall Pro's own materials disagree on timing. The partner page says pros are "live immediately", while the last line of its press release says the integration "is coming soon to eligible US customers".
Angi works differently. A homeowner who picks an Angi pro in AI Mode is sent to that pro's profile on Angi to request a quote, according to Angi's announcement. Angi also says 50% of homeowners engage with AI in its core experience. Its release says nothing about what pros pay for requests that start in AI Mode.
Thumbtack is on Stein's list but has not published any terms, eligibility rules or fees for AI Mode.
Free Bookings Next to Paid Leads
The no-fee terms from Jobber and Housecall Pro sit beside Google's own paid product for the same customers. Local Services Ads charge advertisers for each valid lead, and Google's Local Services help page counts a customer booking request as a valid lead in the United States and Canada.
A home service business on Jobber or Housecall Pro can therefore receive a booking from AI Mode without a per-lead charge, while a booking through its Local Services ad is billed. The partner platforms are turning AI Mode visibility into a feature of their subscriptions, which gives a business another reason to pick its software by where it can be found.
One request, one Pro, no lead fee, no bidding war. A shop can't get this on its own. It comes with the platform that runs the business…
For a business on none of the named platforms, Stein's post describes no route to direct bookings in AI Mode.
What Google Has Not Said
Google has not explained how AI Mode chooses which businesses to recommend. The only guidance so far comes from a partner. Jobber advises connecting a booking form rather than a request form, and says client reviews help Google AI Mode decide which businesses to recommend.
Google's own AI Mode help page on checking local availability and pricing covers finding appointment slots and Google calling businesses, but does not mention Angi, Thumbtack, Housecall Pro, Jobber or partner booking links. For now, the rules a business acts on are written by the partners rather than by Google.
The move adds to a run of outside companies getting into AI Mode. On 28 October, Google opened AI Mode and Gemini to outside app developers through its Connected Apps platform.
