Google has expanded its AI Mode restaurant booking feature to the UK, extending how users can search for dining options directly through conversational prompts. The update, according to the company, connects users to real-time restaurant availability through a set of local reservation platforms instead of keeping the process inside Google itself.
This rollout follows the earlier launch in the U.S. in August 2025, where Google first introduced what it describes as agentic booking capabilities inside AI Mode. The UK expansion shows how the feature is now being adapted across more markets with the same structure, but different local partners.
How AI Mode handles restaurant searches and bookings
Users type a natural language query describing what they want. These requests can include details like the number of people, preferred cuisine, dietary needs, location, and timing. Google returns a list of available restaurants matching those criteria, each with a link to complete the booking through one of the integrated UK partners. AI Mode surfaces the options and hands off to the partner platform to finalize the transaction.
For example, a user might search for a table for two at a dog-friendly Italian restaurant in Shoreditch for Saturday at 7 p.m. AI Mode then processes the request and returns a filtered list of restaurants that match those conditions.

UK rollout connects eight reservation platforms
Google says it's working with eight UK reservation platforms, including TheFork, SevenRooms, ResDiary, Mozrest, Foodhub, Dojo, DesignMyNight, and OpenTable. These integrations mean availability data and booking links are pulled from multiple systems rather than a single source. Once users select a restaurant, they are redirected to the relevant partner platform to complete the reservation.
Expansion beyond restaurants into other services
The UK launch is part of a wider expansion to eight markets. The feature is now live in Australia, Canada, India, and Singapore, among others. In these new markets, the functionality extends beyond restaurants to include event tickets and beauty and wellness appointments, all accessible through the same natural language query approach inside AI Mode.
Hotels and Flights in Development
Google also says it is working on expanding AI Mode into hotel and flight bookings. The company has named partners such as Booking.com, Expedia, Marriott International, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Choice Hotels, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. No launch timeline has been announced for either category.
The restaurant feature is part of a broader push to embed transactional capabilities inside AI Mode. Google has also rolled out UCP-powered checkout inside AI Mode and Gemini and tested Direct Offers to surface exclusive deals in the AI Mode interface.
