Apple’s WWDC 2026 teaser artwork is now drawing attention ahead of the developer event scheduled for June 8 to June 12, 2026, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports.

Last week, we reported that the company was preparing a dedicated Siri app and a major redesign of Siri in iOS 27. According to our report, that direction points toward a more conversational assistant that works like a persistent chat interface. Now, the company is moving along with that plan with its WWDC 2026 teaser.

Gurman says the new teaser is being interpreted as a visual hint of changes coming to Siri in iOS 27. The focus comes at a time when Apple has already been expanding its AI direction across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

What the Glowing “26” is Signaling in the Siri Interface

According to Gurman, the glowing “26” element in the WWDC artwork is connected to Siri’s redesign. He suggests that the same glow effect is being tested internally as part of Siri’s new visual identity.

Instead of the current Siri interface, the updated version is expected to use a more modern design that leans toward chatbot-style interaction. This includes a glowing visual indicator that appears when Siri is active, which aligns with the lighting effect seen in the teaser.

A similar visual direction also appeared earlier in a video shared in March by Apple’s marketing chief Greg Joswiak. In that clip, the teaser styling used the same glow-focused effect.

Siri Moving Toward a Chatbot-style Interaction

One of the key changes being reported is how Siri will behave in iOS 27. Gurman notes that Apple is working on making Siri more conversational, where users can issue multiple commands in a single interaction instead of one-at-a-time requests.

The updated Siri is also expected to interact more closely with what is on screen and with personal data stored on the device. This places Siri closer to a chatbot model rather than a traditional voice assistant.

Apple is also reportedly developing a dedicated Siri app inside iOS 27. This would allow users to view past conversations and interact with the assistant in a more continuous way, instead of only through voice activation.

Dynamic Island Integration and “Search or Ask” Prompt

A major interface change being discussed is Siri’s integration with the Dynamic Island on supported iPhones. When activated, Siri is expected to expand from the top of the screen with a pill-shaped interface.

Inside this interface, users may see a “Search or Ask” prompt, which replaces the more limited interaction model currently used. Alongside this, a glowing cursor or indicator is expected to appear, signaling active input.

Gurman also notes that this visual approach mirrors the glow effect seen in the WWDC 2026 teaser and may extend across system interactions like calls and navigation, not just Siri.

Third-party AI Agents and Wider Apple AI Direction

Another reported change in iOS 27 is support for third-party AI agents. This includes systems like Grok and Claude, which could be integrated into Siri’s broader interaction framework.

This could open a more layered AI ecosystem inside Apple devices, where Siri may no longer act as a single assistant but as a gateway to multiple AI tools depending on the task. Apple has not publicly confirmed these integrations, and Gurman notes that while some elements may still change, the overall direction of Siri’s redesign appears consistent with internal testing.

WWDC 2026 and What Comes Beyond Siri

Beyond Siri, Apple is expected to focus WWDC 2026 on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. These updates are reported to include performance improvements such as better battery efficiency, faster system response, and improved stability.

Smaller usability updates are also in testing, including undo and redo options for home screen customization, which would allow users to adjust layouts without restarting changes.

The official rollout timeline suggests that Apple will unveil these updates during the June keynote, with wider releases expected later in the year alongside new iPhone models.

Competitive Context

The Siri overhaul is Apple's response to ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, all of which offer persistent conversation history and contextual reasoning that Siri currently lacks. Apple's advantage is native platform integration. The Dynamic Island placement, system-wide access, and on-device processing give Siri distribution across approximately 1.5 billion active devices, a reach no standalone AI app can match.
