Alphabet does not report YouTube Shorts as its own line in the accounts. What it does publish comes through its quarterly earnings calls and YouTube’s own blog: milestones for daily views and users, and a running comparison of how Shorts earn against in-stream video. This page gathers each of those figures with the date it was said and who said it.

How many views do YouTube Shorts get?

Shorts average over 200 billion views a day. Neal Mohan, YouTube’s CEO, first gave that level on 18 Jun 2025, and Alphabet repeated it on its earnings call of 4 Feb 2026. In April 2022 the figure was 30 billion.

The jump to 200 billion is not like for like. From 31 Mar 2025, YouTube counts a Shorts view each time a Short starts to play or replays, with no minimum watch time, so the 70 billion and 200 billion levels were measured differently. Shorts could also run to three minutes from 15 Oct 2024.

How many people watch YouTube Shorts?

Over 2 billion logged-in users watch Shorts every month. Alphabet gave that figure on 30 Jan 2024 and has not updated it since; in July 2022 it was 1.5 billion.

On the supply side, over 10 million channels publish Shorts every day (29 Apr 2026), and 70% of channels that upload to YouTube in a month upload Shorts (29 Oct 2024). Viewing is moving to the living room: connected TV accounts for 15% of Shorts viewing in the US (4 Feb 2025).

Do Shorts earn as much as in-stream video?

In the US, they now earn more. On 29 Oct 2025, Alphabet said Shorts earn more revenue per watch hour than traditional in-stream video, three and a half years after calling Shorts a “slight headwind to revenue growth”.

DateWhat Alphabet said about Shorts
A “slight headwind to revenue growth”.
US monetization rate relative to in-stream “more than doubled in the past 12 months”.
Level with in-stream on revenue per watch hour in the US.
Ahead of in-stream on revenue per watch hour in the US.

Does Alphabet report YouTube Shorts ad revenue?

No. Alphabet reports one YouTube advertising line, “YouTube ads”, covering Shorts, in-stream and every other format: $11,055M in Q2 2026. None of the quarterly releases from Q1 2022 to Q2 2026 breaks out a Shorts revenue figure, and Alphabet has never given Shorts’ share of YouTube watch time.
