Reddit launches AI-powered Max campaigns
The ad format puts Reddit closer to Google and Meta’s AI-driven campaigns
Get Smarter at Marketing
Reddit has announced Max campaigns, a new automated campaign type for advertisers using Reddit Ads Manager. The company unveiled the product at the start of CES 2026 and says the campaign type is now in beta.
According to Reddit, Max campaigns are powered by Reddit Community Intelligence, which it launched last year, along with AI models that estimate the value of every ad impression. Based on those predictions, the system adjusts campaign settings as ads run. Reddit says the goal is to improve performance without requiring advertisers to manually manage multiple inputs.
The beta is launching this week for traffic and conversion campaigns. Access to the tool is limited for now, with more advertisers expected to be added over the coming months.
How Max campaigns work inside Reddit Ads Manager
Reddit says Max campaigns automate several parts of campaign setup and delivery. This includes audience targeting, bidding, creative selection and rotation, placement decisions, and budget allocation. Once an advertiser selects Max campaigns, the system manages where ads appear across Reddit, how budgets are allocated, and which creatives are shown to different users.
For example, instead of advertisers choosing each setting themselves, Reddit says the system evaluates signals from across the platform and updates campaigns in real time. These signals are drawn from Reddit’s posts and comments, which the company says are translated into structured data through its Community Intelligence system.
Creative tools built into Max campaigns
Reddit says advertisers using Max campaigns can optionally access AI-assisted creative tools during campaign setup. According to the company, it offers headline suggestions based on language patterns commonly used by Reddit users. Reddit says these suggestions are generated using signals from ongoing conversations across the platform rather than fixed keyword lists.
Max campaigns can also generate thumbnails by adapting advertisers’ existing images to fit Reddit’s conversation-style ad placements. The company plans to introduce AI-based video cropping soon. This feature will allow advertisers to import videos from other platforms and adapt them for Reddit placements.
New reporting with Top Audience Personas
Reddit is also introducing Top Audience Personas, a new reporting feature available in only Max campaigns. According to Reddit, this feature uses AI to group people who see or interact with an ad into audience personas. The tool will enable advertisers to see which personas engage most with their campaigns and what topics those personas are currently interested in on Reddit.
The platform says Top Audience Personas reporting will begin rolling out in the coming weeks.

Reddit’s approach compared with Google and Meta
Reddit’s move comes as major ad platforms continue to lean into automation and AI-driven campaign management. Google and Meta have both been expanding automated buying, creative optimization, and audience modeling across their ad products.
Google’s Performance Max and Meta’s Advantage+ campaigns already automate much of the media buying process across their ecosystems. Reddit’s Max campaigns apply similar principles but rely on Reddit-specific signals drawn from discussions and user activity across communities.
