Google is now rolling out a dedicated AI Mode button located next to the search box on its homepage. This new button sits on the right side of the Google.com search field and gives users a direct way to enter the AI-powered search experience.
AI Mode is also being added to the new tab page in Chrome. Rajan Patel, Google’s VP of Engineering for Search, confirmed the update in response to a post on X. “Yup, just rolled it out on google.com. It's also rolling out in the new tab page in Chrome,” he wrote.
Google AI Mode offers a conversational interface for more exploratory or complex search queries. The company is moving the feature closer to the point of search intent and inviting users to engage with its AI-first search experience instead of the traditional web link model.
AI Mode is now available to users in the U.S. and India, two of Google’s largest search markets.
