Google is rolling out new agentic shopping features in AI Mode and the Gemini app in the U.S. The company says these updates allow users to interact with AI to find products, compare options, check prices, and complete purchases.

Conversational shopping in AI Mode

In Search’s AI Mode, users can ask detailed questions about products. Google says responses are organized with visuals, prices, inventory information, and review insights. Users can search for queries that display shoppable images.

They can also ask comparison-based questions, and the AI will present a table that compares options, including details from user reviews. The goal is to give users information in formats that match their questions.

Gemini app shopping features

The Gemini app now supports shopping directly within AI chat. Users can ask for product ideas, compare items, and check prices across multiple online sources. Google says listings are drawn from Shopping Graph data. Gemini’s new shopping functionality is available to all U.S. users starting today.

Agentic AI for local inventory checks

Google is also adding a feature that allows users to find items in stock nearby without making multiple calls themselves. When searching for products near them in Search, Google may offer a “Let Google Call” option. To use the feature, users answer a few questions about the product, and the AI makes calls to stores to confirm stock availability, pricing, and promotions. Google then summarizes the responses and sends users the details by email or text.

The initial rollout covers toys, electronics, and health and beauty products in the U.S.

Agentic checkout and price tracking

Google is also introducing agentic checkout. Users can track product prices and receive notifications when items fall within their budget. If merchants are eligible, AI can complete the purchase through Google Pay after the user confirms shipping details and authorizes the transaction.

This feature is available with U.S. merchants such as Wayfair, Chewy, Quince, and select Shopify stores.

Google pushes further into agentic AI for shopping

AI shopping agents are reshaping online retail by influencing how users discover products and complete purchases, and Google’s latest rollout fits into this industry shift.

These updates follow earlier launches of AI capabilities in Shopping. Google first introduced AI-driven tools through Smart Shopping campaigns and recommendation systems that tailored product suggestions based on search behavior. In AI Mode, Google added conversational features that let users ask about products and receive responses that include text and visuals.

The rollout positions Google’s agentic AI alongside competitive offerings from Amazon and Shopify. Amazon has been testing AI shopping assistants, including recommendation engines and voice-based purchasing through Alexa. OpenAI, through ChatGPT with browsing, supports direct purchase flows. Other platforms, including Shopify and Meta, are introducing their own versions of AI-assisted shopping and checkout.
