Google launches Search Live in the U.S. with voice and camera input
The rollout is part of Google’s plan to make search more multimodal

Google has rolled out Search Live in English across the U.S. The feature is now available directly in the Google app without requiring an opt-in through Search Labs. The company first introduced Search Live in June as part of AI Mode.Â
How Search Live works
Search Live sits inside the Google app on both Android and iOS. To use it, users tap the new “Live” icon under the search bar. From there, they can ask questions out loud and optionally turn on the camera feed. Google says Search will then respond in real time and include web links when needed.
When Google first launched the Search feature, it said it would add more functions to the tool. Now, the integration also works with Google Lens. If someone is already pointing their camera at an object with Lens, they can switch to the Live option at the bottom of the screen. Camera sharing is automatically enabled, which allows an immediate back-and-forth exchange about whatever is in front of them.
The rollout of Search Live follows Google’s plan to make search more multimodal by combining text, voice, and images in a single flow.
