Google Ads is rolling out video campaign groups, a tool that lets advertisers coordinate reach and frequency across several YouTube campaigns at once instead of managing each one on its own. The feature is now available globally, and Google says the same setup is coming to Display & Video 360.

How Video Campaign Groups Work

Video campaign groups sit on top of an advertiser's existing YouTube reach and frequency campaigns. Rather than setting a separate goal for each campaign, an advertiser sets one shared reach or frequency target across the whole group, while every campaign keeps its own budget, creative, and targeting. Google then coordinates delivery across the grouped campaigns so they work toward the combined goal. A brand running three YouTube campaigns for a single product launch, for example, can steer total audience frequency from one place rather than adjusting each campaign separately.

One Reporting View

The tool also adds a unified reporting layer. Advertisers can see core metrics such as unique reach and average weekly impressions across the entire group in one view, per Google's announcement, instead of pulling each campaign's numbers separately and stitching them together. For teams managing large YouTube presences, that consolidates a task that previously spanned multiple campaign dashboards.

Part of a Portfolio-Level Push

Video campaign groups extend a pattern Google has followed across its ad products, shifting advertisers from manual, campaign-by-campaign control toward portfolio-level automation. Performance Max already coordinates spend across Google's surfaces, and in June the company folded Gemini deeper into Demand Gen with automated creative recommendations. The same month, Google began auto-linking YouTube channels to advertiser accounts to feed more first-party signal into its campaign types. Grouping reach and frequency management applies that same logic to YouTube's awareness buys.

What It Means for Advertisers

Reach and frequency campaigns control how often a target audience sees an ad, and running several of them without a shared goal can push total frequency higher than intended or leave reach uneven. A single group goal gives media buyers one lever for the whole set rather than separate controls per campaign. Google has said the grouping and reporting will expand to Display & Video 360, letting advertisers coordinate reach and frequency across multiple YouTube line items there as well.
