Google adds image-to-video generation to Google Vids
The feature turns brand images into eight-second video clips with audio

Get Smarter at Marketing
Google is introducing more generative AI features to Google Vids, its collaborative video tool for brand and marketing teams. The update allows subscribers to transform images into short video clips using Veo 3, the company’s video generation model. According to Google, the new capability is available to paid Google Workspace customers, as well as subscribers of Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra.
Turning photos into short videos
The image-to-video feature, first launched for Veo 3 in July, is now integrated directly into Google Vids. Marketers can upload a product image or company photo and use a text prompt to generate an animated eight-second video clip.
Instead of creating entirely new footage, a marketing team can reuse existing photography. For example, a company could take a lifestyle image from its product catalog, upload it into Vids, and quickly produce a video asset with brand-aligned animations and native audio.
AI avatars for scripted content
Another part of the rollout is the addition of AI avatars. Instead of recording a live presenter, teams can write a script and choose a digital avatar to deliver the message inside Google Vids.
For instance, a business could draft a short product announcement, select an avatar that fits its tone, and instantly generate a video message.
Google Vids also now offers automatic transcript trimming, which removes filler words and awkward pauses in seconds.
Other upcoming features
Google has also pre-announced several updates arriving in the coming months. Noise cancellation, new filters, and background options similar to Google Meet will be added next month. By the next quarter, brands will also be able to export Vids in portrait, landscape, and square formats.
