Google is bringing AI Mode to Circle to Search. The company is expanding how users interact with visual content on their screens. The new update lets users go beyond just identifying an image or text. Now, they can ask follow-up questions and get more context or explanations without jumping to a new app or browser.

What is Google Circle to Search, and how will adding AI Mode to the feature  work

Circle to Search lets users search for anything they see on their phone screen by circling, tapping, scribbling, or highlighting.

Once a search is initiated, users will see an AI Overview (when Google’s systems believe it’s the most helpful format). At the bottom of this overview, a new option appears: “dive deeper with AI Mode.” Tapping that lets users ask natural language follow-up questions, similar to what they might do in a Gemini-powered chat.

For instance, if a user circles a skincare product, they can now ask further questions like “Is this good for dry skin?” and get a detailed answer based on their query.

According to Google, this feature uses AI Mode’s advanced reasoning capabilities to enable users to explore complex topics or refine their queries without opening a new tab or app.

AI Mode is also available across apps and regions

Google also said that AI Mode will be available through Lens and the Google app on both Android and iOS, having previously announced the update in April. That opens up new user behavior across more touchpoints.

The rollout is limited to users in the United States and India, two markets where AI Mode is supported. Google only recently made AI Mode available to all users in India.
