TikTok is rolling out ‘TikTok Go,’ a new creator monetization program that allows eligible users to earn money by promoting hotels and other travel-related services directly within the app.

The program is designed for creators who want to monetize their travel content through affiliate commissions and vouchers from local businesses. TikTok Go is currently available in the U.S., Indonesia, and Japan. However, creators in the U.S. are limited to promoting hotel bookings for now.

How the TikTok Go program works for creators

TikTok says the program will allow creators to tag hotels they visit in their videos. When a viewer books a stay through those tagged posts, the creator earns a commission. In some cases, merchants can offer vouchers instead of direct commission payments.

For example, a hotel may offer a set commission for every booking generated from a creator’s video. To earn, the creator could post a room tour, a review of the facilities, or a video about the surrounding attractions.

Other tasks could include reviewing a nearby restaurant or promoting local activities. If viewers follow the link in the creator’s post and complete a booking or purchase, the creator receives the agreed payment or voucher.

Requirements and target audience

TikTok is positioning TikTok Go as a tool for smaller creators who may not have the reach of top influencers but can produce relatable, location-specific content. To qualify, creators must be at least 18 years old, have an account in good standing, and maintain at least 1,000 followers.

How creators can access the feature

TikTok Go appears in the “Monetization” section of a creator’s account. Once selected, it displays a list of available hotels and shows how much commission a creator could earn for promoting them.

Creators can also set their location to see specific offers and tasks. These tasks may include posting a video from a certain type of hotel room, creating a video review of a restaurant in the area, or showcasing a local experience.

Opportunities for hotel and travel brands

TikTok Go could offer a way to connect with niche audiences through authentic content. Instead of running traditional ads, brands can work with creators whose followers trust their recommendations. A small hotel, for example, could partner with a creator to show real guest experiences, potentially leading to higher booking conversions than standard promotional campaigns.

Given TikTok’s younger user base, brands could also see TikTok Go as a chance to reach first-time travelers.
