Shopify is rolling out Agentic Storefronts, a new tool that enables brands to get discovered on AI platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Microsoft Copilot. The update is part of Shopify’s Winter ’26 Edition, a collection of more than 150 features the company is releasing across its product ecosystem.

How the Agentic Storefronts system works

According to Shopify, merchants can set up Agentic Storefronts starting with a single data configuration in the dashboard. Once that is done, the system distributes product information to supported AI platforms. This means that once a merchant enables their preferred AI platforms, their catalog can be surfaced in responses whenever the AI detects that a product is relevant.

The feature lets brands on Shopify appear inside AI chat platforms where people are already searching and asking for product recommendations. For instance, if a shopper is inside an AI chat and asks for a product category, the AI assistant can pull a brand’s product data directly from Shopify, and customers will be able to discover and buy products directly in the AI conversation.

The company says this is powered by end-to-end agentic commerce and Shopify checkout, which lets users go from chat discovery to purchase within the same conversation.

How data is syndicated across AI platforms

Shopify says brands do not need to manage separate integrations. Instead, everything is handled from a single setup in the admin. From there, Agentic Storefronts uses the data across the AI platforms the merchant has activated. They can also toggle each supported AI platform on or off from their dashboards. This means a merchant can decide where they want their products to appear and track visibility without integrating with each assistant separately.

The e-commerce platform also says the tool will soon include merchandising controls. These controls are expected to enable brands to review and adjust how their product information is syndicated when AI platforms pull information.

Knowledge Base App

Shopify has introduced a Knowledge Base App. The company says this tool lets brands upload policies, FAQs, and voice guidelines. This information is meant to influence how AI systems interpret the brand. According to Shopify, brands will also be able to monitor conversations that reference them so they can understand how customers are interacting with their product details.

For instance, a brand can set guidelines about its tone, shipping rules, or warranty explanations. Shopify reports that these instructions influence how the AI presents the brand inside chats.

Another part of this update involves schema. Shopify says brands will be able to define their schema so that LLM crawlers behind platforms like ChatGPT can pull cleaner and more accurate product details.
