The deal makes Samsung the first TV maker to integrate Perplexity’s AI engine into its TVs

Get Smarter at Marketing
Samsung has entered a partnership with Perplexity to launch an AI-powered search app on its smart TVs. The collaboration marks the first time Perplexity’s conversational AI has been integrated directly into a television platform.
Perplexity’s answer engine is known for pulling information from real-time web sources. It is designed to respond conversationally, similar to chat interfaces like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
How the Perplexity TV app works
The Perplexity TV app lets users explore information directly from their living room. According to the company, it allows users to ask questions, explore topics, or search for entertainment using natural language.
After launching the app from the home screen, users accept the terms, enable the microphone, and start asking questions. The responses appear instantly on the TV display, and users can follow up naturally, just like in a chat interface.
Users can also type their queries using a USB or on-screen keyboard. Samsung explains that users can open the app through the Vision AI Companion, the company’s built-in smart assistant for TVs. Through this integration, they can engage in two-way conversations with their TV.
Rollout and availability
The app is currently available on Samsung’s 2025 smart TV lineup, with support for 2023 and 2024 models coming later this year through an OS update. The gradual rollout means existing Samsung users will soon gain access without needing new hardware.
Perplexity expands beyond mobile and desktop
This partnership extends Perplexity’s AI search technology beyond mobile and desktop devices into living rooms. The company has built a reputation for providing concise, real-time answers to users’ queries, becoming a recognized name in AI search.
Previous reports said Perplexity discussed with Samsung to preload Perplexity AI app and assistant on future devices. Now, the AI startup is aiming to reach millions of users who rely on TVs for both streaming and general information. These are part of its plan to position itself as an alternative to Google and ChatGPT, as it aims to gain more share in the AI search market. Â
Samsung says the launch of the Perplexity TV app reflects its ongoing mission to deliver more personalized and connected smart experiences. While the company has been developing its own AI features through the Vision AI Companion, this collaboration extends its reach into conversational search and real-time information retrieval.
Exclusive offer for Samsung TV owners
As part of the launch, Perplexity is giving new Samsung TV users a free 12-month subscription to its Pro plan. The offer can be redeemed by scanning a QR code shown within the TV app. The company says this promotion is meant to introduce users to the full range of its AI capabilities.
