Meta is making Ads Super Burst generally available this month, giving advertisers a way to book a window of 3 to 24 hours and reach their audience at what the company calls TV-like scale inside it. With category exclusivity, no other advertiser in the same category can book that window.

Meta announced the move at its Brand Building Summit on 16 October, alongside a test of a first-in-Feed ad slot on Facebook, new topics for Reels Trending Ads and an early measurement product. The rollout happens in phases.

How Ads Super Burst Works

Super Burst campaigns are planned in Reach Planner, which secures inventory for the chosen dates and returns an estimate of reach and price. Meta guarantees delivery against those estimates.

Meta pitches the product at the few moments in a year that matter more to a brand than the rest. Its examples are the window around a product launch, an external event such as an awards night, and the first weekend of a new sports season.

That makes Super Burst a reserved buy. The advertiser knows the hours, the reach estimate and the price before the campaign starts, which is closer to how television airtime is sold than to bidding for each impression.

What Meta Says Testers Saw

Meta says advertisers testing Super Burst over the past few months saw a median 2.9 point lift in ad recall and a 0.6 point lift in intent. A median flight reached 34 million people, which Meta puts at 14% of the US adult audience online in a single day.

These are Meta's own figures from its test. The announcement does not say how many advertisers took part, how long the test ran or what a Super Burst window costs.

Two testers are named. Spark Foundry, the media agency, ran a 12-hour activation for a client and has recommended the product again for the holiday season. Unilever used it for Dove during the Women's Final of a US tennis tournament, to make sure its message stood out.

A Test That Started at NewFronts

Super Burst is the finished version of a test Meta first described in March. At its NewFronts presentation, Meta said it was testing a reserve buying option for high-attention windows of up to 24 hours, tied to events and seasonal spikes in activity. Seven months later, that option has a name, a planning tool and guaranteed delivery.

Meta is not alone in selling time-boxed, high-attention inventory to brands. In March, Snapchat launched Total Snap Takeovers, which give a brand the first ad position in every tab a user visits in a session. TikTok's TopReach, launched at NewFronts the same month, bundles the first ad shown when the app opens with the first in-feed ad into one daily buy.

Those products sell a position in the app. Super Burst sells a block of hours, with a reach and price estimate attached before the campaign runs.

What Changes for Brand Advertisers

For brand teams, the practical change is predictability. The date, the reach estimate and the price are set in advance, and with category exclusivity a direct competitor cannot book the same window.

Ads super burst helped us solve a challenge for our client: how to ensure a priority, time-sensitive message had guaranteed visibility with our target audience within a short window.
Kathryn Quart, Spark Foundry

The results Meta has published are recall and intent lifts. The case for reserving a window therefore rests on brand metrics, which is how Meta frames the whole product.
