Reddit has introduced a new video ad optimization goal called 6-second Engaged Video Views. According to the platform, the new option is designed to target users who are more likely to watch an ad for at least six seconds or until completion. The feature is currently in beta and is available within Reddit Ads Manager under Video Views campaigns.

How the 6-second Engaged Video Views goal works

The feature works by focusing on users that Reddit’s system identifies as more likely to stay with the ad. The 6-second goal uses automated bidding and delivery. This means advertisers do not set manual bid amounts but instead rely on Reddit’s system to optimize delivery.

According to Reddit, billing is tied to what it describes as “meaningful views,” which apply only when viewers reach the six-second threshold or finish the video. Payment is made if the ad hits that point or is fully completed. This marks a shift from Reddit’s current model, which counts views at the two-second mark.

For example, if a brand runs a 15-second video, the system will try to show it to people who are predicted to either finish the full video or watch beyond six seconds.
